I am delighted to be here, Yash. I think poetry has its own special place in contemporary literature. Poetry explores the domain of feeling, creativity, and expression, as opposed to other types of writing that may center on story or reasoning. It provides a concise but powerful way to delve into the human condition, perfectly expressing the highs and lows, the joys and sorrows, and every emotion in between.
The lyrical beauty of your collection “Nocturnal Rhymes” has won you many admirers. To what extent do you think your poem fits into the larger canon of modern poetry?
Yash: I wanted to give people a look into the shadow side of human nature with “Nocturnal Rhymes,” to tackle the intricacies of feeling and being in a direct way. With this action, I aspire to join a larger dialogue in modern poetry that values openness, genuineness, and unfiltered honesty. By using words to go into the depths of their own souls, my work aims to break norms, push limits, and challenge readers.
What is your take on the connection between poetry and contemporary social issues?
For as long as there has been poetry, Yash, it has reflected the spirit of the times. Amidst significant environmental, social, and political crises, poetry can give a voice to the voiceless, expose injustice, and motivate people to take action. Poetry may bring attention to important social and environmental issues, such as mental health, and encourage readers to reflect, empathize, and take action.
What advise would you provide to budding poets who are struggling with the intricacies of self-expression? You seem to be a poet who welcomes vulnerability and reflection in your work.
Hey Yash: To aspiring poets, my advise is straightforward: write what you feel. Take pride in sharing your story, your viewpoint, and your life experiences. From happiness and love to sadness and despair, don’t be scared to investigate the whole range of human emotion. And most importantly, be genuine. Since poetry is essentially an intimate form of expression, the key to establishing a strong connection with readers lies in being genuine.
In your opinion, how do you see poetry fitting into literary canons in the years to come?
It is my firm belief, Yash, that poetry, like all forms of literature and society, will undergo continuous change and adaptation. Poetry will continue to play an important role as we face new technological developments, social movements, and cultural changes; it will help us understand ourselves and our place in the world, and it will allow us to connect with others on a more profound level. In a world that is becoming more complicated and fragmented by the day, poetry shines as a light that helps us make sense of it all.
